A new Bored Ape Yacht Club theft, another day.
Invading the well-known NFT brand’s Instagram account on Monday, the hacker uploaded a link to a purported airdrop that promised to offer current Bored Ape owners a free allotment of land in the future Otherside metaverse. However, the post’s URL was a phishing scheme. The Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs of users who opened it and connected their cryptocurrency wallet were taken.
The con artist made off with a sizable profit. Four Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs, six Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFTs, and three Bored Ape Kennel Club NFTs were all taken in the scam, according to one of Bored Ape’s designers. Not only were BAYC NFTs impacted by the scam, but one user also lost a Clone X NFT worth over $54,000.
Each piece from Yuga Labs’ first NFT collection, Bored Ape Yacht Club, currently costs at least $430,000. (145 ether). In the Bored Apes’ canon of the BAYC, there is a group of canines known as the Bored Ape Kennel Club. These airdrops, which were given away for free to Bored Ape holders in June, currently sell for at least $42,000. (14 ether). Last but not least, the Mutant Ape Yacht Club collection debuted in August of last year and now has a floor price of $117,000 for all current BAYC holders (39 ether).
