The duet with Gangsta Boo was set to be on Gnarls Barkley’s third studio album before her tragic passing stopped it.
On Monday, CeeLo Green posted on Instagram about his intention to collaborate with Gangsta Boo (January 2). CeeLo Green revealed a screenshot of their text exchanges in which he was planning to work with Three 6 Mafia on a future Gnarls Barkley album.
He wrote, “Normally I wouldn’t post something this personal, but I did want y’all to know the complete group was going to be on the next #gnarlsbarkley album. “I know you fought, sis, but we still went to ride for you baby boo despite our unwavering love for you. Stand up and respect the queen, Memphis!
Lola Mitchell, also known as Gangsta Boo, died on Sunday in Memphis (January 1). She was 43.
There has been no formal disclosure of the cause of death. In a statement released on Monday, Veronica Mitchell, the late rapper’s mother, pleaded for the world to respect their privacy.
