It comes as no surprise that Elon Musk announced he would step down as CEO of Twitter as soon as he found a replacement. Musk has unveiled a new payment system to address this, requiring businesses and brands to spend $1000 USD per month in order to get verified on Twitter.

In addition to the $1000 USD monthly fee, Twitter is also charging an additional $50 USD for each of its affiliated sub-accounts in order to maintain the “gold check-mark verification badges” that the tech giant launched in December. The Information acknowledged the adjustments are “being completed and could still change,” replacing the blue check marks with gold ones for businesses.

The new “Twitter Blue for Business” services are covered by the new price range. Customers can link affiliated people, companies, and brands with the new verification procedure, and these entities will be given a tiny emblem with the profile picture of their parent firm next to their checkmarks. According to Musk, Twitter will stop using all old verified checkmarks in the next months.

Musk has reduced Twitter’s workforce by 80% while accruing a $12.5 billion USD debt since he took control of the company. Musk revealed on Friday that starting on February 3, artists would receive a portion of Twitter’s ad revenue for “advertising that show in their reply threads.” People who wish to maintain their Twitter verification will need to pay either $8 USD per month for the web or $11 USD per month for Apple’s iOS.
