Lucasfilm unveiled three new live-action “Star Wars” films on Friday, making new entertainment for fans a little less far away.
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy made the announcement at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 in London. She also posted it on the official Star Wars website. The news includes Daisy Ridley’s return as Rey in one of the movies. James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will all be directing the films. Kennedy invited the filmmakers to the stage to make the announcement.
The dawn of the Jedi will be revisited in Mangold’s movie. The New Republic will be the focus of Filoni’s, which, according to the release, “will wrap up the interconnected stories told in ‘The Mandalorian,’ ‘The Book of Boba Fett,’ ‘Ahsoka,’ and other Disney+ series.” The focus of Obaid-Chinoy’s film is on what transpires after “The Rise of Skywalker,” and Ridley will reprise her role as Rey “as she builds a new Jedi Order.”
