The Fairfax County Police Department told TMZ Sports… Delonte West had a medical problem when police were attempting to arrest him Thursday morning.

Police said cops were attempting to serve a warrant on the former NBA star for violating the terms of his parole… when he fled.

According to the FCPD, during the subsequent foot pursuit, they lost sight of West briefly before discovering him “unresponsive.”

“Narcan was administered by officers,” police said, “but [it] did not have the desired effect.” He was sent to a local hospital, where Narcan was administered again, resulting in the intended effect. West was released from the hospital and taken to the ADC.

According to a jail official, the former Boston Celtics point guard was booked into the Fairfax County Detention Center in Virginia at 4:35 a.m. on Thursday on two misdemeanor charges: breaking release terms and resisting arrest.

While being processed, West stood for a concerning mug shot, in which he appeared to struggle to keep his eyes open.

The 40-year-old is presently being jailed on a $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, according to officials. Further information about the claims against him, however, was not immediately accessible.

West has had multiple run-ins with the law since leaving the NBA after the 2011-12 season… while at times over the last four years, he appeared to get things back on track.

He collaborated with Mark Cuban to enter rehab in 2020… and in 2022, he tested out for the Big 3 in the hopes of resuming his basketball career.

However, after his comeback attempt, he has been detained multiple times, notably twice in a two-week period in the fall of 2022.
