Daniel and Tanya Snyder, the owners of the current Commanders, are reportedly thinking about selling the NFL team. There have been rumors that Jay-Z and fellow billionaire Jeff Bezos would make an offer to purchase the squad.

A source recently spoke with Tina Knowles, Jay-mother-in-law. Z’s The mother of Solange Knowles and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter expressed her opinions over a potential investment in the Commanders by the founder of Roc Nation and his wife.

Regarding Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s alleged potential ties to the NFL, Tina Knowles responded, “I have no doubt that everything that they put their minds to, they can do it brilliantly. The matriarch of the Knowles family, though, said, “I don’t know anything about that.”

The NFL & Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Already Work Together On Live Performances & Social Justice Initiatives

The National Football League and Jay-Z already have a strong, long-standing friendship. In 2019, the NFL and the 24-time Grammy winner’s Roc Nation agency partnered, with the latter producing the Super Bowl Halftime Show as part of the deal.

Additionally, Roc Nation and the NFL collaborated to provide social justice PSAs on Black men and women who were shot by police while unarmed, including Botham Jean and Stephon Clark. As part of the Inspire Change campaign, the cooperation also included donations to charitable institutions.

Jay-Z did come under fire for signing a contract with the NFL while teams in the league continued to reject signing Colin Kaepernick, a former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers and a social activist. Jay-Z addressed the criticism of Jay Electronica’s song “Flux Capacitor” from the album A Written Testimony in 2020.

“Why would I compromise? It makes no sense because I’m already wealthy. Got a whole NFL bench, more money than [NFL Commissioner Roger] Goodell. Did it with with one hand, just like Odell, who was imprisoned. If they could have handled that s### alone, I would have stayed on the sidelines, Jay-Z raps in the song.
