With yet another diamond plaque as his latest achievement, The Weeknd has continued to amass awards.

The Canadian singer received a diamond plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on Tuesday, December 6, for his 2015 track “Can’t Feel My Face,” which has now sold 10 million copies.

The Weeknd’s second studio album, Beauty Behind the Madness, contains the song, which is a fan favorite and has amassed over 1.2 billion YouTube streams total.

The Weeknd has already been awarded a diamond plaque. After his singles “The Hills,” “Starboy,” and “Blinding Lights” all passed the 10 million mark, he accomplished it three more times.

The Weeknd is now the third solo artist to receive four diamond certifications, and fourth overall, thanks to this new accomplishment. With Post Malone and Imagine Dragons, he is presently tied for second place all-time in terms of the number of diamond plaques.

Bruno Mars has a record-tying five diamond singles, which puts him in first place overall. Also making history, The Weeknd is the first Canadian musician to get at least four diamond plaques. Drake, a fellow Toronto musician, has three at the moment.

Thanks to his sixth studio album Dawn FM, the 32-year-old crooner had a fantastic 2022. Tyler, The Creator, Lil Wayne, and actor Jim Carrey are all included on the album, which premiered in January 2022 at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

With what seems to be some kind of collaboration with the James Cameron-directed movie Avatar: The Way of Water, The Weeknd plans to end 2022. On Sunday, December 4, he hopped onto Twitter and posted a message with the blue Avatar logo and a 12-second audio clip. The Weeknd added the date “12.16.22” to his ominous post.

In addition, movie producer Jon Landau tweeted a photo of himself and The Weeknd with the caption, “As the Na’vi say, ‘Zola’u nprrte’ soaiane Avatar’… Greetings from the Avatar family.

Although it’s unclear exactly how The Weeknd is connected to the movie, many people think it has something to do with the soundtrack.

The Weeknd posted a series of pictures to his Instagram Story on Tuesday (December 5) that appear to be from a tour of James Cameron’s home studio and museum. Character statues from the movies Alien, Terminator, and Avatar were shown in the pictures, along with a miniature of the Titanic and one of his Oscars.

The Weeknd’s dance-infused fifth studio album, Dawn FM, is up for Best R&B Album of 2022 at this year’s HipHopDX Awards.

Age Sex Location by Ari Lennox, Gemini Rights by Steve Lacy, Renaissance by Beyoncé, and Wasteland by Brent Faiyaz are a few other albums up for consideration.
